New developments on the wind

Hello again

To let you know that there will soon be substantial changes to this site, both in design and content.

These are related to remarkable developments associated with my being back in Adelaide in South Australia. For this has led to connections with a range of people and organizations who have expressed great interest in the potential of this Conversare enterprise.

Those of you who have been following my entries here will likely not be surprised,  knowing of the unique elements which comprise this way of getting together in public places with the guiding hand of a host.

A new way of socialising which could bring untold joy and satisfaction to all those who feel moved to engage.  Can you  imagine who could benefit from participating in these events, perhaps ‘toe the water’ once to begin with and then on future occasions?

Just two groups of people whose lives could change in most wholesome ways are those who become:

.  hosts –  an entirely new role which at present hardly exists. People who convene  this kind of socialising in their local neighbourhood cafes, pubs,  hotels, community centres … This activity could become a new form of volunteering or a way of supplementing incomes. Can you see how both of these could readily come into being?

. ‘recruiters’ – who make the opportunity to seek out others who may be lonely, depressed, isolated, yearning for getting out and about and yet anxious and not knowing how this can be done.

In what ways do you think such people’s way of being could change?

And what of the lives of those who do it? Who have the courage to come along and participate? How differently could you feel about yourself once you experience:

. being made to feel most welcome and included, no matter who you are.

. being assured by the host that ‘you are OK precisely as you are.’

. knowing intuitively that you are doing the right thing, for yourself and for others.

.  a rich and enjoyable conversation with a stranger and likely with others present too.

. someone having the thoughtfulness and consideration to invite you to come along.

. paying attention to someone else through being interested and through careful listening.

. reflecting on the experience, and coming to appreciate what a privilege it was to be a participant.

. seeing the opportunity to come to another event and to bring a friend.

Do you have an inkling that the idea of Conversare contains a thousand times the treasure you first suspect?

More of these are soon to be revealed …

 Watch this space! <smile>
