Conversare – beyond and ahead

“You never change things by fighting existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

“Conversation is the greatest of the arts.”
Both from Buckminster Fuller

During the month of July 2016 I have been away from Adelaide, spending time in Hong Kong, England and France.

In each of these I have had experiences of, and/or had insights into, the potential value of a Conversare kind of social event to bring about wholesome changes on how people relate to each other.

And have connected to key people who appreciate that purpose, place – and associated context – are critical to how people interact with each other. These lively spirits wish to participate in the development of this way of co-creating contexts in which people of any background interact well in situations in which they experience dignity, liberty and responsibility.

Examples:

A remarkable live connection during an online webinar organised by the Hong Kong International Coaching Community. This was with Judith Glaser, author of ‘Conversational Intelligence’. Judith expressed great interest in the Conversare process.

More on this to follow.

The first ever Conversare event in the UK happened on 19 July 2016 in London. Much appreciation to David Gurteen for setting it up.

And was well received by those ‘right people’ who came along on a hot summer evening – rather unusual for here but that’s the way it was.

What thrilled me to the core is that participants ‘got it’.

Which means that there could be uptake – including new career options – here and beyond.

Among the comments received on this from participants and others were:

“Imagine having dinner with a complete stranger not just to chat but to fully engage with them in a respectful, meaningful conversation and to understand them more deeply.

This is the essence of one of Alan Stewart’s Conversare events that I recently experienced in London.
It’s a simple process that works so well.
We need more conversations that matter and less idle chit-chat.”
David Gurteen, Founder – Gurteen Knowlege Community

“In these times of rapid change, simply connecting people for distraction-less conversation is profoundly impactful.

Conversare provides an exceptionally simple approach for the return to glory of community trust and connectivity.

For me, I arrived not knowing what to expect and I left feeling connected and supported by good people and great conversation.
John Hovell: Head of Organisation Development, BAE Systems plc

“Hey Alan,

Stuart Gifford

“Congratulations, now onto the EU”
Peter Nixon

“Wonderful dear Alan….and Hi David—!!

Warmly”
Juanita Brown

Alan, I imagine wonderful, fruitful conversations in the UK these days.  Go well, friend, and enjoy.

Re venues for Conversare events

Several people in France and England commented that the Adelaide Central Market after trading hours is an ‘enchanting’ place. Agreed!

I was able to suggest that there are places in the UK which would suit well. Just one that I noticed is a café close to Trinity College in Cambridge. I mentioned this to the Event Manager, who expressed considerable interest in the prospect.

Watch this space … for follow up to developments in the northern hemisphere AND

. others taking on the role of host of events

. updated use of social media by a savvy young man.

. new ways to bring recognition to the boldness and vision of the management  of the Adelaide Central Market in supporting this‘game changing art form to connect our common humanity which has

“Something serious, something fresh, something that has a soul in it.”
After Vincent Van Gogh

Looking forward

Alan

 “Be prepared to be delighted”

Note: My book ‘Time to converse – at the heart of human warmth’ is reportedly being passed on ‘heartfully’ (smile) by people who see this is a way of spreading awareness of ‘whenever we treat each other well good things happen’.

For Hong Kongers: The book can be obtained at a special price just for you from Dymocks (the last of the 14) in DB. Also from Terry Boyce in Mui Wo.
